Things I Have Learnt….

The less you are treated like a friend, the more you learn how to be one.

Yard work always feels more productive than house work. 

Life is noisy. Social media is noisier.

Remember to look up. It makes you feel small.

Humility is shy.

It’s easier to offer help than to accept it.

When you think you have made it to the summit, it’s probably only base camp.

Listen to what people say with your ears.
With everything else you have, read between their lines.

Help because you care, not because you have to.

Only the most expensive puppy will eat rat bait….. and almost get eaten by a snake.

If at first you don’t succeed,….. it helps if you become curious, not defeated.

Now; it counts more than you know.

If you want to, decide.

Your roots determine your fruit.

Soft hands only come from a soft heart.

Thinking of others is a skill. Teach it often.

Most things in life are an art. Be creative.

In one way, parenting does get easier, in a thousand others, it gets much harder.

Time can be the harshest of slave masters.

Connection is everything.

Your dreams can’t come true if you don’t have any.

Your body is perceptive. Listen when it speaks, not when it yells.

Rest.

Remember to breathe. You will be surprised how often you hold your breath. 

Moments matter.

Grace truly is amazing.

Meek isn’t weak. Softness in body, mind and heart is the most powerful feeling of them all.

Soft heart + Calm mind = Kind hands

Soft hearts have a lot to do with kind and giving hands.


If you can make yourself cry, you can make yourself calm. Tell me when you master it.

Confidence starts like this….. Fear.

Courage starts one small step out of your comfort zone.

Self control is worth fighting for.

Hope has a pulse. So you can touch it when you wonder if it still exists.

Storms aren’t just distracting. They are disorientating.

Busyness can blow up a mighty storm.

Don’t wait till God has to yell through the cyclone. Listen for the whisper in stillness.

Being flexible can stretch you so much you think you might break.

Weaknesses can also be strengths.

Pressure creates steam, but it also forms pearls.

The truth always finds a way.

You can find a light in the dark but you cannot find a dark in the light.

Sometimes I hold a lantern for others, sometimes, (if I let them), others hold it for me.

Life is rhythmic. Occasionally, it stops.

Change is what time looks like.

Certainty is unreliable.

Control is an illusion.

Worry doesn’t prepare you for the worst. It is a thief in broad daylight.

When you feel like giving up, don’t.

Progress is invisible, until it’s not.

Vulnerability is the key to connection. I just haven’t found it yet.

Destinations can distract you from the scenery.

No matter the scenery, it can change your plans. It can also change who you are.

Our treasure is not just found in the promised land. It is looking back to realise we collected it along the journey.

The journey is always more fun with the windows down.

“Love” and “give” are both verbs. So is “choose”.

With every trial we are transformed into something better.

God speaks my heart language. People, horses and faithful dogs. The natural world, music and poems. We have our own secrets.

It helps when you listen to your heart, God lives there.
