Hi there,
Thanks for your support and for reading. I am Mel and I am Wife to Corey, (for almost 18 years), we have four kids. Eb (16), Ace (13), Cody (12) and Annie (8).
We live on six acres on the outskirts of Caboolture, QLD. We have two dogs, one horse, three ponies, thirteen chickens, three roosters and a snake.
We recently survived travelling Australia in a camper trailer, (yes, with all the kids), in the year of the pandemic, with two surgeries for Corey thrown in for good measure. If you didn’t guess, we do love a bit of adventure.
Along the way I posted much about our travels with some pretty cool photos to match. Getting so much great feedback has encouraged me to start something I have been thinking about doing for quite a while. I do enjoy writing and words and the feelings that can be captured by them. They say a photo can speak 1000 words, but what is happening behind the scenes? What happened moments before everyone plastered the smile on their face? What is opposite the clear, blue water? The west coast of Australia always amazed me how any beach location could look like paradise on earth, yet it couldn’t be further from the truth.
A photo doesn’t capture the millions of flies, the heat, the wind, the arguments, the tiredness and so much more. There is something about the messy moments that teach us so much.
If we dismiss these circumstances as inconveniences, if we shove our frustrated feelings aside, if we miss giving the mess over to the One who is sits in the middle moments with us, we miss out on our promised peace, and rest.
As all six of us Teunis’ learnt in our travels, “it adds character”.
I hope you enjoy some of my “thinking-out-loud” moments,
Mel
